6800gt - which brand should i buy?

I want to get a 6800gt, but I'm not sure which brand I should go with. I'm leaning towards the Giga-byte card, but the evga one looks good as well. Please help!

Everyone is pretty much the same except for a select few. BFG's card comes overclocked 20 mhz on the core out of the factory and has a lifetime warranty. Asus's 6800gt is really not a 6800gt (stay away from this one), and stay away from XFX ive heard bad stories from these cards.

Only 2 cards to choose from - Leadtek or BFG for a basic GT. Both have bigger/better heatsinks than the others which seem to share the same OEM heatsink.

I haven't seen any temperature comparisons of the heatpipe BFG and I don't like the fan being fitted on the back of the BFG so I went with the hefty heatsink of Leadtek.

I have tried both BFG and Leadtek for the 6800NU (I know he is talking about the GT) and the BFG was extremely noisy whereas the Leadtek is silent...

Did the BFG nu have the same newfangled heatpipe dodad as well? I'd like to know how good the BFG heatpipe design works. There isn;t a review todate that actually measure temps on the BFG.

bfg it may cost a little more. Even tho all the cards should perform just about the same, i think tho bfg oc alot better and it has a life time warrenty. But wiht the warrenty you cant oc or you void it.

Mine is not loud at all, and overclocked at 411 and 1100 it is at 57C

My pair of BFGs are probably loud but I can't hear them over the noise of all the other components in my system so I don't mind too much.

It is possible that I just happened to get a defective card (the monitor didn't turn on either with it) but it was LOUD compared to the rest of my case. The computer was built to be quiet (dual 120mm fans for cooling, Zalman cooler on quiet) so this stood out. I can't even hear the leadtek fan.

I have no idea whether it had the heatpipe or not.

i would definitely advise against XFX, i had the 5200 which performed great (in it's day) and got a 5700 LE which i've been disgustingly dissapointed with.

I'm actually in the same boat as you Cheesetogo, i'm looking at the 6800 GT, and from what i've gathered it looks like BFG and eVGA are the way to go

What good things have you heard about eVGA? I have not heard any bad things nor have I heard any good things.

That was me who said that Eclipse. The Evga seems like the most pupular choice on newegg right now. I think the BFG would be a great one also, Only reason i did not list it in the other thread is because we were talking about in stock cards at newegg, and it was not in stock. It would have been the top 1 or 2 on my list.

if you want to hear good things about evga, read the "who knows how many" reviews on newegg from the people who have bought it. It is the number one selling next generation card on newegg.

Search for every card over 300 bucks and then sort by votes....i gaurantee the EVGA will be #1 by a mile.

Yes. The cooler is quiet and the card looks amazing. However, the cooler is nowhere near as good as the other GT's, and therefore it limits your overclock.
