Ok guys. See if you can help me here.

How does X800pro compare to 6800GT, in terms of power requirements, heat and noise output?

(I already know 6800GT performs a bit better, and has 3.0 shaders)

I would say the x800 pro would take less power than the 6800s. Noise has almost nothing to do with the gpu itself. The manufacturers all decide on the coolers.

The X800Pro does use a bit less power. People always panic about the Ultras using so much. What they forget is that the Ultra draws almost no power from the AGP/PCI-E slot it gets it all from the molex (Stupid design huh?)

As for noise you can opt to get a GPU Silencer for either one. However if you like silence i would highly recommend MSI as they garauntee it to run <21dba and under a certain temp which i dont remember.

as far as i can tell, my x800 pro is not any louder or hotter (in terms of perceivable noise or load case temps) than my 9800 non-pro was.

There was an article somewhere comparing power requirements of the 6800/x800 series. I did a search and couldn;t find it. Maybe someone else can chip in.

From my personal experience of owning both cards, X800 performs a bit less, runs much cooler, and its cooler is quieter than my BFG 6800GT OC
