hi i'm kind of new to this site but i alwais come here for advice im one of those quiet m&fo's who steal info.

i just upgraded from an nvidia 5600 xfx to a "BFG 6800gt oc"
1 first problem is that i installed the 6800gt and as soon as i turned on my pc i saw a bunch of blue, red yellow, pink squares all over my screen(in dos mode as it was booting up) lines weird artifacts etc.. and they dont go away even when i boot windos on (safe mode).

2. it gives me a blue "memory dump" screen and it says "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" right after the windows logo when i try to boot windows normaly, after that I gotta restart.

3. computer doesn't really freeze but it becomes slow as heck.

this is what i've done to try to solve the problem:
1. set AGP aperture size to 256 instead of 64 as recomended by manufacturer
2.install many different drivers from 6.2.1 to 6.6(they are all release not beta)
3. computer was overclocked 5% and i turned that feature off
4.flash latest bios for mobo
5. checked on device manager that all devices are installed correctly(no errors)
6.checked that all voltages are within normal range(thru bios)

i assume that its a mobo bios issue because i see the dots lines squares etc... right after i turn on my pc but i wouldn't know what to do now. and i could post pictures i i can find out how let me know i those would be helpfull.

system specs:
pentium 4 HT 3.06(idles at 61c)
Asus p4p800-e deluxe
BFG 6800gt oc(with nvidia silencer 5)
3 hard drives
1 cd burner
1 dvd player
power supply:Antec true 430 (430watts)
wondows xp SP1
1gig corsair 3200 ram(512x2)
super tv tunner card (tv tunner card)
i got 4 fans on the case+cpu fan+nvidia silencer5+power supply fan.

please don't tell me to restart windows do a clean install or send the card back to BFG..that I know;)

this is a used card i bought it from ebay($370) could be a damaged card but lets asume it's not(warranty has been voided because of aftermarket fan).
i need all input i can take don't issume i know cause i don't.

You're right, it may be a defective card but try to disable fast writes in your bios.

I agree with the above post directing you to look in directions other than your drivers (or windows installation) You are seeing issues before either has loaded or run.

If other video card(s) function properly in your motherboard, it's probably not a MoBo/BIOS setup issue either.

Sadly, it is not uncommon for punks to fry their video cards with ridiculous overclocks and failed modifications. And then head straight for EGay if they can't rob the mfgr. warranty.

(Sorry for the negativity.... hope I'm wrong)

Whoa! Your card idles at 75 C? My BFG 6800 U OC idles at 45-47 C with ambient room temps of 70 F (approximately 21 C) and I too am using the 71.84 forceware drivers.
