6800GT stand by problem

Hi people,

I have just purchased the following hardware:

Gigabyte GA-K8NF9
Amd 3500+
Albatron 6800GT

I have just installed Windows (clean), all good. When i got to install the display drivers after the reboot, or during, just before Windows loads the monitor goes into stand by mode.

I have tried two different monitors and both do the same thing.

Any suggestions?

Have you installed the motherboard drivers yet? First thing that needs to be done.

What drivers? Don't bother with the drivers that came with the card - download the latest nVidia Detonator drivers from nVidia's website. Don't fool with hacked drivers for now.

Could be that Windows is confused about the refresh modes your monitor supports. If there's a driver for your monitor, install it. Conservely, if you HAVE installed your monitor's driver try changing it to a standard Plug and Play monitor. Also try booting into safe mode and see if you can change the refresh to 60Hz and the resolution to 800 x 600. Reboot into normal mode and if you can see the desktop now, you can re-adjust the display settings.

Hope this helps...
