OK guys, I've searched the net all over and can't seem to find any review with these 2 setups compared. Right now I game at 1280x1024 but when tax season rolls around I wanna get a 2405FPW which means 1920x1200 or whatever the native res is. Which of these do you think would be the better buy for what I wanna achieve.

Keep in mind that 4xAA and 8xAniso with at least 40-45fps is a must. Also, i play a little bit of everything, from Guildwars to Lineage II to DOD:Source to NFS:Underground 2 and everything in between.

7800gt...for most games. (there are a select few games which give the 2x 6800gt's 10-20 fps over the 7800gt)

If FEAR and COD2 are any indication of games to come, you're going to want either SLI 7800GTs or a GTX (or the Ultra if it is to come) if you want to maintain 45fps with 4x/8x at 19x12. If FEAR and COD2 are anomalies, then you should be able to get by with a single 7800GT, which, at that resolution, would likely be better than SLI 6800GTs. Grab a 7800GT for $300ish. Sell your current 6800GT for $200ish-- total cost $100. If you buy a 2nd 6800GT, you're out $200.

I went from two overclocked 6800GTs (ASUS Extreme N6800GTs to be exact) to the XFX 7800GT. There is no comparison; games run smoother with higher detail with the single 7800GT then with my 6800 GTs in SLI. An additional benefit is that the XFX card is incredibly quiet compared to the N6800GTs. The XFX fan speed is automatically controlled and it's never had to spin up to full speed even after hours of playing BF2 HL2 or DOD. The only reason I know the fan is capable of spinning up higher is because it briefly spins up to full speed when windows starts. Asside from the fact that the NVIDIA WDM driver has been sort of balky, I'm incredibly happy with my 7800GT.

You will be too.
