6800GT Problem

Ok i notice a problem in my VIDEO CARD i bought a week ago. The problem if when i Overclock GT the results in the benchmarks go down. I really did not figure that out, i tried different drivers but the result was same at stock speed it gives you more score result then after Overclocking it.

Does it means it is not getting enough voltage or it is Video card.

Any help would be appreciate.

No that means you have some weird ass problem i have never heard of

How much are you OCing this card.. 1-10mhz isn't going to make a difference, and fluctuating up and down is common. If you are OCing 50mhz on both or something, then refer to my previous post.

Well it can easily overclock to 400/1150mhz with coolbit 2.0. But even from 325/1000 to this point any overclocking is resulting in poor score.

You could grab RivaTuner. It has a data record mode that will allow you to record VC temp, core clock, mem clock activity while benchmarking. It is useful for locating spikes in core clock resulting from errors when overclocking. I am guessing errors are causing downward spikes in the core clock or mem clock frequencies.

How can i fix it, and where is this option in RIVA TUNNER.

Could this be Motherboard, i have MSI K8N NEO PLATINUM Motherboard, and did i told you guys it is AGP card.

It could be that you happened to purchase a 6800GT that doesn't o/c well. Every card is different. Some will get insane o/c's and others will barely let you o/c even a single MHz.
So, if your card runs at advertised clockspeeds and working fine, you really don't have a problem. It's all a gamble really. Have you compared your benchmarks at stock speed against others with the same rig as you have? What temps do you have at idle and at load? What PSU do you use?.

Yeah i compared so many different speeds with the stock, and this card overclock beautifully like i said 405/1150 easily no artifacts or any instability. The PSU i am using is ULTRA 500Watt which is great for any use in todays computing. The temperature is between 49-60 idle to load not to hot from my point of view.
And i did not used it with any other rig but i am thinking to try that too, because i am begining to think that card is not getting enought power after OC. If AGP slot is bad then it wont run at stock speed too.
The power voltage in BIOS for AGP is 1.5V do you guys think it is wise to bump it upto 1.7V and see what happens or don;t change the power voltage in BIOS.
This is the strange problem i ever had.

The problem you are having, I think, is that the MSI boards often overclock video cards by default through hidden settings in the BIOS.

To a search on this. It is called NV/ATI Speedup or something like that and, while in the advanced menu where you can change clock frequencies in the BIOS, you press CTRL+ALT+F1? or some such combo. This brings up the hidden options and will allow you to disable the overclock; which will then stop conflicting with the coolbits settings.

Once again, do a search on the NEO2 Plat and the problem and report back with your results.

I have K8N NEO PLATINUM NFORCE3 250GB Motherboard with SOCKET 754, you are refering me to NEO2 platinum. Do you think they both have same problem? and same setup?

1. Go into the Core Cell Menu in the BIOS.
2. Press Shift+F2
If an NV/ATI Speed Up option comes up, make sure it is disabled.

If not, then my advice might not apply to your board.

Maybe play with the memory speeds, as some people have noticed that if the memory and GPU speed are out of sync, then you'll get decreased performance.

Well it did not worked, first of all nothing came up. It is totally crazy man, i really don;t know what to do now.

Well you guys are not going to believe that, i found the problem and it was ahdjshdakjshdj problem.
Guess what? the card was not properly inserted into the AGP Slot, means it was not in all the way the power cable was holding it up, so i pressed it in and it is running fine now.
