6800GT PCI-E Pricing!!?

Why the hell are they gonna try to be slick and charge $100 extra for a GT when the only difference is the slot type. These people think they are slick jacking up prices. All I know is that if 6800GT's will be $500 my whole plan to get the nForce 4 SLI boards will be changed, and I'll prolly just go with a normal nForce 3 board and get an AGP card.

It's bad enough we have to pay premuim for SLI motherboards, and now they wanna charge us $100 extra just for a normal GT?

Here is the link by the way:
http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=14-150-081&depa=0

Same reason why the "$200" 6600gt agp cards are costing anywhere from 230-270, its a new card and demand is high.

I've seen 6600GT's for like $185
He said AGP.

It's the same situation in reverse, you can get AGP 6800GT's for $350.

New card = inflated prices. Wait and the price will come down.

6800 GTs cannot be found for $350 anymore. A while ago on Outpost, yes, but that's gone. Feel free to prove me wrong, I've been looking for a good price on one.

these cards are getting phased out anyway..the NV45 are coming up, all based on PCI-E and very likely cheaper.

Same with the upcoming ATI cards based on pci-e.

(Besides, your pci-e card at newegg is not in stock ANYWAY...so..it would be a big mistake to order this card, because when it's inm stock a few days later the new cards might be coming out, beginning, middle of december)

yes of course, demand is high because noone has these cards [the high end cards anyway] 🙂 As said..there are new ones coming out by ATI and NV, which is kinda weird because we didnt see a lot of the "old ones", eg NV40 on pci-ex and X800XT...they probably figured these cards are too expensive to manufacture...eg. you see X800XTs around for $800...who on earth BUYS these ?

Eh do you need any more? It took less than 10 seconds to find all these cards and about 5 other sites with them cheaper.

brother extract your foot from your mouth. that asus is a dumbed down gt with 128mb of normal ddr memory. no one is buying them, because they suck. hence the $50 less cost.

Is that a 6800 GT? Is that what he asked for? He gave no specifics..he gets nothing specific. Got it?

Salvatore is right that there are currently no deals in the $330-360 range like there were a few weeks ago and the price for AGP is around $400, but the point is still:

* 6800 GT PCI-E costs more than AGP because the PCI-E version is brand new, similarly
* 6600 GT AGP costs more than PCI-E because the AGP version is brand new,

and in general right now, brand-new PC hardware is overpriced because demand is greater than supply and it's what the market will bear.

The lesson is to not be in such a hurry to buy just-released parts, have the patience to wait for supply to increase.

And don't rant about price if you insist on buying anything while it's still scarce 🙂

Thats BS dude, Asus is the ONLY ones selling POS GT's that thing has only 700mhz on the ram compaared to 1000... and onlt 128 compared to 256. so it really should count as a GT... He shouldn't have ot be specific. Did you want him to say every GT besides the POS asus one?

$500 for a GT?! FU Newegg. All their prices are damn near close to retail or above now. Most of the ma and pa shops around here are the same price or lower. Compussr and bestbuy will be selling these for $100 cheaper. I never thought I'd see that.

Newegg has always done this with hard to get newly released videocards. Why are people shocked and surprised? Did you just start shopping at Newegg yesterday?

Wait until availability increases and Newegg will have one of the lowest price around just like they always do. Until then buy from B&M where MSRP is the norm.

Ummm... no they haven't always done this. Worst case scenario they listed it at retail price for the first week and then it dropped. They still haven't hit retail price with the GT and how long has it been out?

Thank you. For a moment, I thought people would actually believe his claims.
