In coolbits I see my core is set at 400 and ram 1100 and in rivatuner I see the same in system tweaks. BUT when I click on hardware monitoring it shows the core at 351 and the ram at 1104? Where is the problem and which do I believe?

Ok so when I test the oc with 3dmark05 and the monitor in the background I see it bump up to 399 core and stay at 1100 memory and then it did the same for Real-time HDR IBL so thats fine. Got a 5325 for the 3dmark :D . But my temps after 10 min (I know it should go for 30) went from 58 idle to 83 load. I have not touched the stock fan. Should I try and reseat it with arcsilv5 or leave it be? I only play CS Source and watch dvds...?

I believe 351mhz is your 2d performance and 400mhz is your 3d performance. When you are playing 3d games, 6800 recognize it, and pushes your card into 3d mode. As for your temp, that's about normal for 6800GT OC. My 6800gt oc was idling around 58 and 88 @ full load. After I replaced the hsf to NV5 AS5, it idles @ 51 and 80 @ full.

83 is high. AS5 will help quite a bit. I say replace with AS5.

thanks guys...I was playing CS and switched back quick to see the temp and it was only mid 60s so that isn't bad at all. When I get a chance this weekend I will reseat the hs with AS5

edit* is there any good way to detect artifacts?

This is a good idea (I have done this to my own BFG 6800GT), but you will void your lifetime BFG warranty if you replace the TIM with AS5. :(

Yea several. I have always used the 3rd test in 3dmark03. Opening scene is very dark. Easy to pick up on them. 2nd test as well coming up in elevator. Artifacts are easily seen on the funky lookin armor body suits. mark05 they show well in 1st test mainly on the backdrop (the building).
