Hi, I'm pretty new to building computers, but i have the basic idea of where everything goes, plugs, etc.
I purchased a gigabyte 6800gt, i put it into the agp slot, and the videocard and the video card fan doesn't even turn on, besides when i turn off the computer, it spins for a second but thats it! Everything else functions, all of the plugs and wires are connected, the motherboard was "tested" before it was shipped to me, so I don't think that the problem has to do w/ the motherboard. So i'm stuck, please help!-Thanks!:

did you plug the molex connector in? unless your last video card probably, this card needs a power connector plugged in. I heard they beep loudly though if you dont. Make sure you plugged in the power.... and maybe you should reseat it in the slot, just to make sure its seated in right.

what is the wattage on your power supply?

you need at LEAST 350 watts for one of these cards to be on the safe side.

I read somewhere that the Gigabyte cooler doesn't spin untill you get in Windows. I think it was Guru 3d, not sure where though.

I found it !!

Extra care is called for when the PC doesn't boot correctly and the motherboard gets hung up during initialization. The fan only starts up when the operating system is booted. If the computer crashes during operation due to some problem and gets stuck while rebooting, the card continues to run during this time without being cooled and gets very hot very quickly. Gigabyte should remedy this to prevent the card from being unnecessarily overloaded in such situations.

It may only happens with early revisions.

Hi again, I sent my 6800gt in, and gigabyte said that they tested the card and it works!! When I got the card back, I put it in the computer and the fan STILL doesn't turn on. I even plugged the molex connector in. The fan or LED light won't turn on, and when i try running the computer my moniter just says "no signal" with a blue screen. Any suggestions on whats wrong with my computer, or what I should do?
-Thnx!
