Hey guys, I finally got my whole new computer in.

specs:
-6800GT Evga - core idle @ 48c ambient idle @ 31c
core load @ 65c ambient load @ 38c
- nv silencer 5
- a64 3200+
- msi k8n neo 2 plat
- 2x512 corsair xms pc4000

First of all.. im lettin my cpu get used to stock speed for a lil while. I decided I would begin overclocking with vid card then move on to cpu later. Anyway, first run of 3dmark03.. think i got a 10200. Then after letting it run a few times.. I decided to overclock. Right away I had problems.. i pushed the core to 400mhz and it would just get artifacts everywehre.. so then I decided to move it up in blocks. Went with memory first.. got it to run stable at 1150mhz (the nvidia overclocker will not let me go higher). With this I got a 10900 score. Then leaving the memory at 1150mhz, I bumped the core to 375. Run the 3dmark again (stable) but my score drops to 10530 (400 point drop) ?? Does anyonw know if this is normal. Also, I was hoping to be able to run this card at 400mhz core esp since I have nv silencer 5. lemme know what ya think!

If the card can't handle the overclock, it will drop itself to default settings,
run riva in the background to see if your mhz drops during the tests

It is probably doing just that. Its called thermal throttling which basically means that when the card gets to a certian temp, the card's core clock will be throttled down in order to prevent damage to the core. Flashing the card will often fix this issue. Maybe the evga 6800u bios will work. Its worth a try, and will most likely work if your card can get to ultra speeds w/o artifacting. Just be sure to backup your old bios.
