6800gt freezing

Sometimes when I'm playing CS:S my game will just freeze. The in game sounds will stop and everything will stop, including the net_graph 3 and everything. Sometimes after a few seconds the computer reboots also.

I'm 90% sure that this is due to my PSU not supplying enough power to the video card. But I'm looking for some reassurance. I suppose it could be the cooling, but my temps aren't going to far over 70C whenever I check them while I'm playing CS:S. My specs are in my sig.

PS: Would an Enermax Noisetaker 485w PSU and maybe a Zalman VF700 do the trick? (I want the Zalman anyways because this stock HSF is too effing loud).

i assume thats pci-e...does your current psu have a 24-pin connector and do you have the power connected to your video card (not 100% sure it needs one)

if youre getting a new psu, i reccomend an ocz powerstream (450W+)

My card is AGP. My motherboard is an ASUS K8V. So it has a 20pin mobo connector, and a 4pin 12V connector. Yes my video card also has a 4 pin molex connector to extract power from the 12V rail.

How quiet are the OCZ Powerstreams?

You can measure the 12V rail voltage with a Volt meter while running ATItool. Click on "Scan for artifacts".
You can see that your GPU heat goes up as it scans for artifacts.
If it is the power supply that is causing the problem, you should see the 12V voltage drop too much (more than 5%).

Let ATItool run and keep your eye on the GPU temperature (RivaTuner).
If it is heat that causes the problem, the voltage will be OK but after a while, you will have another freeze while running ATItool.
