I have been having problems with my PC for 2 months now. First I had a Winchester 3200+ with 2GB o generic RAM (different modules 4x512) ...Sometimes, there would be no video, sometimes it would work fine. Sometimes, it would boot to windows and then start artifacting and subsequently restart.

I thought it might be the RAM or drivers. I formatted, the problem went away for 3 days. It came back soon enough.

Then I sold tried the GPU on my spare 3.0GHZ Northwood with 512MB of RAM. It worked flawlessly for 2 weeks (light usage - no gaming. I tried 3d05 which worked fine) ..Then I added 786MB RAM (again different modules). Worked flawlessly for a week. I tried 3d05 without problems. I downloaded BF 1942 which worked flawlessly for an hour for 2 days. However, the third day, my PC suddenly restarted. It never worked since then. Windows booted with artifacts. I thought it was the RAM, tried with the one stick. Still same problems. Is it the GPU? DEAD?

It could. I used the same 400W PSU in both rigs. How do I check for sure? Maybe disconnect one HDisk?

I have another 250W generic lying around. Should I try with that or no point?

Really doesn't seem like a PSU problem if it happened on 2 computers (even if they have the same power supply). You can try with the 250W PSU, but it may not have enough juice to even startup the Northwood system. It sounds like a bad graphics card...
