6800GT creates Hard lock, monitor goes blank... help!

Hi there,

I'm having problems with hard locks in Counterstrike: Source. I'll be playing the game for awhile and it'll randomly crash. It's happened with FEAR as well.

Specs:
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
Athlon64 Socket 939 3000+
1GB Kingston ValueRAM PC2700
eVGA 6800GT

Are there any voltage settings or whatever that I need to follow or worry about to fix this problem? Could it be something else? How can I resolve this?

Thanks in advance!

Crashes to black screen and makes my monitor say No Signal.

No desktop, no blue screen, just completely black hard lock.

A voltage change won't fix this? The card has had VERY little use. Doom3 and a little bit of UT2004 was all its ever really been used for. In addition, it didn't start doing this until after the upgrade to 3000+ which was about a year ago (I think).

I'm not overclocking AFAIK. It displays as 3000+. I think the FSB is set to either 200mhz or is it 400 (whichever makes sense)

you could try upping your AGP voltage by a small amount. Some say the Neo 2 tends to undervolt the AGP slot. In the BIOS raise it by .05v. The settings are color coded so supposedly yellow options are relatively safe. Also run prime95 and/or memtest overnight so we can determine if it is actually the video card or your system under load having the problem.
