6800gt bios modification

ok, so I have a gainward 6800gt that I've had flashed to a leadtek ultra for some time. Until a few days ago, it has been fine, but now its fubar'd. After closer inspection, it appears as though two of the ram chips were not in contact with the heatsink.

Now, I can try to RMA it to germany (after googling around this appears to be a bad idea since they no longer have USA offices), but technically it is my fault for using a aftermarket heatinsk and not insuring good heatsink contact.....

so, I have a feeling that those 2 ram chips are blown, and I was thinking that there should be a way to modify a bios to only use like the first or last 128MB or 192MB of ram (plenty for what I'm using the card for) so that I can use it for a few more months until I upgrade to a PCIe system.

I've found plenty of info on changing the voltage, core and ram speed, etc.... but nothing on changing the amount of ram used (I would guess since most of the time its just stupid to do), so.... Anyone have any ideas or good links?

TIA
