Im wondering how much noise this fan makes, and will replace it if its noisey. Anyway i can turn off the fan so i can hear what its like w/o it? I dont want my GPU to get ruined though. THis card puts out alot of heat.
No, definitely do not run the card without the fan... That would be a very bad thing. Nonetheless, there is no need to risk it. You can get quieter solutions from a variety of other places, such as here or here.

Oh, okay. I was getting a bit worried there. Well, the best thing to do in that case would be to upgrade to a silent version, that way you know it is going to be quieter. 🙂

MY BFG 6800GT HSF (all copper with dual blue fans) made the most noise in my system. I recently got the Zalman HSF to lower the noise level. It even reduced my idle temps from 60 C to 56 C.
Definatly don't run it without the fan, they run hot enough as it is. Like others have said there are some aftermarket ones that are much more silent. My 6800GT had the loudest fans in my system as well. It's watercooled now.
