I"m building a new system and am wondering if the Nvidia 7800GS is worth the 100 dollar price difference over the 6800GS. I'd like to save the 100 dollars, but if the performance is worth the extra cost I would be willing to spend the money. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, Rob

Do you have a link to that 7800GS and 6800GS.

And if you can, show us your PC's spec's.

I am a bit confused, is the 6800GS comparable to the 7800 GT, I read an article that stated that the 6800GS is going to be on AGP boards as well as PCI-e. I thought that the 6800GS is a 6800 level card, I have a 6800GT where does this GS stand against my currant card?
Please help me, I am apperently very lost and confused.

If you can/want to spend the extra $100 get the 7800GT.

Otherwise get the 6800GS. Both good values.

First off read this:

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2616&p=7

And no, the 6800GS is not on level with a 6800, its far better in every way.

This is how it is, the 6800GS has fewer pipelines than the 6800GT but makes up for it with its higher clockspeed and memory.

The 6800GS is alot cheaper then the 6800GT and will still give you great performance and can compete with the 6800GT in most cases.

And for you.....

I think when you said the 7800GS you ment the 7800GT, and yes the 7800GT is worth it.

It is a wild Card...., fast, fast, fast but not as fast as a 7800GTX;).

Do you have any more ???????

i'm in the same boat as you. save the $100 and use it in a year or two for your next upgrade. 10-20 frames will be nothing compared to 50 frames in the next 2 generations down.

I'd go for the 7800 GT personally. For the next year you would get to play with those extra FPS instead of getting something that is already old technology and on the brink of not running games at great settings.

The 6800GS has gone up in the price. Many versions are actually selling for about a 7800GT. I would go for the latter.

7800GT is certainly the best bang for the buck if you want to be at the upper end of the spectrum while not paying the premium for being at the bleeding edge. I think it's worth the 100 extra bucks over the 6800GS.
