is that a worthy upgrade....I was one of the few lucky people who got the evga 6800gs for 179.99 + 4.99 shipping on newegg....im not planing on OCing, am i going to see a good increase in game play....far cry, CoD2, CS:S, HL2....thanx

You'll see a huge jump in performance.

To make you feel better, that $189 sale was for the PCI-E version of the card. Since you're running a 9600pro I'm assuming you have an AGP slot.

Oh...Asrock dual sata...so you have both.

Okay, feel bad.

You might want to wait until we get some more benchies out of the 6800GS AGP. Some results have been really good with unlocking pipelines, up to 5400+ on 3dMark05. The PCI-E has higher stock speeds and looks to overclock extremely well, but early results are that you can unlock to 16/6 on the AGP version.

My last upgrade was from 9800 Pro to a 6800 OC. It was a good bit of a jump in performance.

You are going from 9600 Pro, so ya, you should see a big difference. 🙂

thanx to all....from the 3dmark scores i've seen, i will see a large difference....
heres 9600's scores
3dmark01-10000
