will any of the nvidia's cards fit in either a sli board or NON sli board?

my question is this... I have been wanting to upgrade and want a 939 board without the sli option, but i want to use a 6800 gt card

can i buy a video card and use it in a 939 board and later 1 or 2 years, use it in a sli board (boards would be more mature then)

if that is not possible how bout waiting (been waiting to long) for the pci-e video cards to come out and use them in a NON sli board...

the way i see it, ur screwed no matter what...

no options...just commitments...think thats what them dam card makers want...

I think the AGP bus will be around for at least as long as the Nvidia 6800 is still a decent card. PCIe/SLI is still a new technology that may be being rushed to production to make the holiday season. AGP is time tested, and there will definately be a place for it in the next 1-2 years. Remember, computer technology is constantly changing and upgrading. No one can say for 100% that something will remain the top technology, but remember that the majority of computer users are just regular folks with off the shelf systems. Companies like Dell, Gateway, HP, Sony, ect have stock of certain parts, they use up the old before transferring over the the new stuff which in turn keeps some of the less recent technologies still in the mainstream. Game manufactures have to "play" to their audience, and if they want to make money (that is what it is really about) they will continue to make new games that will work on the mainstream computer systems. I beleive that 1-2 years is the average "life expectancy" of a serious gamers computer technology. After that, the mainstream stuff catches up, and your high $$ gaming rig is not much better than something off the store shelf. :)
