The 6800 Ultra (non extreme) will compete with both the XT PE and XT. The GT is kinda beyond the Pro, but does compete with it as well.

As for by tomorrow morning, well, the only ones you'd be able to order at all would be the X800 Pro and XT and 6800 Ultra and GT. And of those, you'd really only be able to get the Pro, because all the rest are in far too limited quantities and are either in pre-order or back-order.

If you need a card soon, go with the X800 Pro. If you can wait 1.5-3 weeks go with an X800 XT PE or either nVidia card (they are quite similar, and their price vs performance is reasonable, so whichever one you want). Remember that you need a pretty decent power supply for the 6800 Ultra.

Well, there doesn't seem to be an X800SE and the X800XT(not PE) looks to be only PCI-E.

Be more specific Sgt Zulu!LOL Voodoo 5 6000 to be exact. You know the one with FOUR GPUs! :) An overclocking, heat producing, and GIANT nightmare.

In my amatuer opinion:

Same price: If it were between 800xt and 6800ultra or even ultra extreme I'd prefer the 800xt since reading all the professional reviewers conclusions they say it's faster.

Same price: If between 800pro and GT no question the GT since it's faster per the experts.

Things get more complicated when the prices are different though

Zebo, I think that you're basing it off of the earlier benchmarks and such. Both the Ultra and XT PE are crazy fast cards, so its a moot point really. The difference between them isn't big enough to hardly matter. But since the x800 is single slot and so on it might help to sway someone's choice.

I wish sites would do reviews with the retail ones (I know that several sites have to have retail cards) and updated drivers. I think that it is a lot closer and may even swing in nVidia's direction.

Updated drivers with the actual retail versions would give us a much better idea of what performance will be for each card.

Yup, you're 100% to my way of thinking. Which is why I'll wait for a "round-ups" before buying or argueing about this crap....4-5 months from now.

My opinion is to by a 9800pro right now.:)

With current drivers and games and etc.:

$500+, 6800U Extreme vs. nothing: X800XT PE
$500, 6800U vs. X800XT PE: X800XT PE
$400, 6800GT vs. X800 Pro: 6800GT
$300, 6800 vs. nothing: 6800

The nVidia cards will more likely than not get significant performance boosts down the line due to several factors, including but not limited to: games utilizing SM 3.0; games optimizing for the architechture (the X800s are very similar to the 9800s, and thus games are pretty much optimized for them already); and driver improvements. The ATi cards will also get a boost with games utilizing 3Dc.

And if you want to preorder one of these, then fine, but good luck actually finding any of them in stock. I doubt you will.

Hi.

Get the 6800Ultra .. IMO the price difference between the the Extreme and Ultra is not worth it.

Don't forget, you can more than likely overclock the Ultra to Extreme speeds anyway.

Keep in kind, future softmods ie 5900 to 5950ultra.
