6800 Ultra to a ATI 1950Pro

So I?m, thinking of going from the 6800 Ultra to 1950 pro, this particular machine is AGP.

But I can't find enough info on comparing these 2 cards, al the benches I look at on anand in the video reviews seem to have one card but not the other, Closest I can find is this. Link

I know the 6800 Ultra is a little faster than the 6800GS because the 6800gS is close to the 6800GT. So am I correct to assume the 6800 Ultra is about on par with the 7600gs? If so where on this graph would the 1950Pro fall?

Thanks

i didn't ask that question very well :p

which AGP x1950p?
{manufacturer and vRAM?}

and what are your early impressions of upgrading from 6800u to x1950p?

and you should have no problems selling your 6800u ... try FS/T

Oh I got a powercolor this one

My eary impressions are good, it's a little louder than my 6800 Ultra, but faster it runs the ATI 1800XT tech demo fine 60+FPS. It's with a 4600X2. Um thats about all I have been able to do with it. It's for my computer that I use for friends when they come over and play. I have a 7950gx2 and 8800GTX in my others, I have 0 life :), but I am happy with the 1950P it is faster than the 6800 Ultra. If you want me to run a certain bench let me know and I'll get back with the results if you like.

Oh I have been trying to sell my Ultra and I get lots of questions but no takers yet, maybe I am asking too much. see

Are you dead set on the 1950Pro? The reason I ask is because the 7800gs can be had for $160 (after $50 rebate) right now.
About $60-$70 less than the 1950pro.

Yes the 1950Pro is faster, but by how much? A few percentage points? Actually, the 7800gs pulls ahead in some tests.

So, I say the 7800gs is the better value overall.

And please don't color me nVidia green. Personally I couldn't care less. Have run both ATI and nVidia in my
systems & like them equally. Well, I do prefer the nVidia drivers. But that is a small consideration overall in my book.

Hey I love nvidia drivers more than ATI, but in this case I had to end up going with a ATI because I have a few games that are funny on Nvidia drivers/ don't work right. So it had to be and ATI. So yea the 7800gs is a better value. I do like nvidia cards more though.

I went from 6800 ultra, which is fairly loud with default fan duty cycle of 45%, to sapphire x1950PRO that is super quiet. I'm surprised that you notice noise on yours, PowerColor was supposed to be super quiet with that advanced heatsink of theirs. While my Sapphire has the base one, and temps are in 40-55C range.

Yes, improvements across the board, so far biggest in Call of Duty 2 where FPS more or less doubled.

This is the first post I?ve seen implying that PowerColor's cooler (Arctic Cooling Accelero X2) is loud, everywhere else I?ve read it?s virtually silent. I thought the stock cooler on a 6800 Ultra was louder than a GT?

have a 6800GTOC (420mhz) running in my wife's pc. died this week, and i went and picked up a visiontek x1950 pro. the x1950 is easily faster, and is quite noticeable on her widescreen (1440x900). where no AA the GT struggled, the PRO runs fine with 4xAA/16xHQAF.

I asked her what she thought, and the first thing out of her mouth was, "the colors are alot better". this coming from someone who could care less about brandname and is tech "clueless". all she cares about is it just works when she sits down and play.

also have a 7800GS AGP in another rig (490mhz), and it's only slightly faster than the 6800GT in WoW, FEAR, and Oblivion. the PRO is noticeably faster in all those games.

anyway, for what it's worth, that's my recent experience.

True but the Leadtech 6800 Ultra I had came with a very quite heatsink cooler. They put the biggest heatsink/cooler on that card that I have seen on any non-after purchase modded card to this date. It put the 8800GTX heatsink to shame, there was copper heatsinks on both sides, the card itself was not longer than the 8800GTX but it was a good amount thicker I think. Had a large fan on it too. Very not stock and very quite.

Pic of card and cooler, makes it look much smaller than it is. pic 1 pic 2 Notice how the plastic on the cover of the heat sink made the air vent around to the back side of the card. Very nice.

That is great.

Where does one get AGP flavored x1950pro cards these days?
