HI, i just wanna ask which graphics card shoud i go for, 6800 Ultra or 7600GT. the 6800 ultra is 256Mb wid ddr3 and 256 bit memory interface, where as 7600GT is only 128 bit and both are price was almost same. Any one could suggest me on this pls?

The 6800 Ultra is over a year and a half old, consumes a lot of power as well as many other things that make it least appealing. The 7600GT is a great little card. That's what I'd get.

Performance shold be pretty close between these two cards because the higher GPU & memory clock speed of the 7600GT compensate for the 256bit memory interface in most cases, plus the 7600GT runs much cooler, quieter and draws a whole lot less power too.

I'ver never actually seen a head-to-head comparision between these two, but my guess is that the only place the 6800 Ultra might have an edge is in very high resolutions & very texture-heavy games.

similar fill rates but the ultra has 50% more memory bandwidth, so it'll be faster pretty much all the time.

A 7600GT has about 24GB/s memory bandwidth, where as a 6800GS even has around 32GB/s memory bandwidth. Performance wise, the 6800Ultra would probably stomp the crap out of the 7600GT.

However, the 7600GT uses less power, has a smaller PCB, and doesnt require any additional power to be supplied to it. Pipeline wise Im unsure of, if I recall correctly, the 7600GT has 12, and I'm fairly certain the 6800GS has 12, but the most a 6800Ultra could have, I'm thinking is 16, but again, I'm unsure of this. I do know however that in past benchmarks the 6800Ultra card often outperformed the 7800GTs.

[EDIT]

JUst like to add, that I own a eVGA 7600GT KO, and in Oblivion is plays @ 1440x900 high settings, and hovers in the 60FPS area. During heavey combat, around 35FPS, and plays very smooth.

The 6800GS is 12 pipelines. The GT/Ultra is 16 pipelines. You can unlock the AGP version's masked pipelines/vertex units (I was able to unlock the pipelines but not the vertex).

Not sure how it compares or if you are talking about PCI-e. I'd get the 7600GT because of power/noise if they are close.

they both perform almost the same....the 7600GT performs a little bit better i think and it consumes A LOT less power + its single slot/newer technology so i'd say go with the 7600GT.
