OK. I just hooked up my BFG 6800 Ultra.

The first thing I noticed was the noise. This sucker is LOUD and very annoying. Much louder than ANY of my case fans. This is suprising as I have some relatively loud 80 MM case fans running.

I have an X800 XT also and it is MUCH quieter.

I'm surprised no one has brough up the noise issue. Does the fan run this loud all the time? The X800 XT does not.

Any other 6800 Ultra owners out there? Is your card loud?

Do you have the Doom 3 edition with the 2 fans or the single fan one?

Either you have a bearing loose in your fan, your fan is defective in another way, or your fan is not throttling properly.

Yeah, thats basically my thoughts. When my box boots it winds up to full speed which would be annoying if it was like that all the time, but once it gets into windows it calms down to the point where I can barely hear it over my harddrives/fans.

Well, "loud" is relative. It's certainly a noisy part, and hearable over my case fans as well. It's not unbearable though.
