6800 (Std, GT, Ultra) and NF7-S compat...

For instance, my Leadtek A350 5900 Ultra card would not fit if I had anything plugged into the Secondary IDE port on the motherboard. Anyone having any issues with their 6800's when plugged into Abit NF7-S v2 mobo's? I am so strongly considering buying a GT.... ARG! MUST RESIST! 😉

I have my GT in a Shuttle SN45G and it fits easily and runs great overclocked@431/1.1ghz off the 200w ACHME PSU so I should think a full ATX board is a given. Just buy one and pop it in already! 😀

There is an issue of getting it inside the slot. I have a NF7s and a chieftec dragon case, and I had a hellish time putting that damn card in along with my leadtek capture card. It's a VERY long card (a good 1-1.5 inches over the 9800), and I couldn't get my hard drive IDE cable in.

I've got a 6800GT in an NF7-S 2.0, and while it is a tight fit since the end of the card is right up next to the IDE connectors, I'm using both of the connectors with no problems. It was quite a task to get my hard drive cage back into the case after I installed the card though, and then connect the molex on the 6800GT, and then connect my IDE cables....but it is worth it, definitely. 😀

It fits but it's very tight fit and you have to install everything in order or it won't fit. FYI, 6800GT is same length card as FX5950. Almost identical in size.

General, are you using flat or rounded IDE cable? Same question for you synthdude.
The rounded cables are better for airflow, but they have HUGE ends with all 80 wires packed into a rubber boot. The flat cables sit just about 1/8th to 1/4 of an inch above the IDE socket. So is this the case with both of you?

Well my current 5900 Ultra would not fit into the AGP slot if I had my CDs plugged into the Secondary IDE port. These were attached with the thin IDE cable, not a rounded cable. Luckily I am using a SATA HD so I moved the CD's off of the Secondary and onto the Primary.

Many people seem to be reporting that the 6800's cover their Primary IDE ports. No matter all in all, just so long as I can get something in here.

What does seem to be funky is how I will gain access to the AGP lock when I take out this 5900... I guess I will have to pull the whole mobo.. yuck. PITR!

Flat cables here.
