I only know rumors. Here are the two rumors I've heard:

- Experiment with the Forceware drivers. I've seen some people claim they got it to unlock with forceware or more recent nVidia drivers.
- I've heard rumor that you can flash the bios (what bios version specifically, I don't know) to help get a card unlocked. Rumor also has it that they're starting to "correct" the cards somehow so that unlocking isn't as possible.

Hopefully someone will set my rumors straight

Gigabyte 6800 here - worked well for unlocking the pipes that weren't hardware masked, but the HW masked ones cause artifacts in WoW. In other words, I only managed to turn it form 8 pipes to 12 (catching up to every other 6800 in the market). Still quiet (no fan) and cool (with case airflow, no signs of overheating danger).

I did flash the video card's bios with the latest version.

Update -

I ran aquamark and no signs of artifacts. I ran 3dmark01 and I only saw visual defects in nature. BTW, am running (I think) 66.81 (or whatever the newest ones on nvidia's website). What about that one PNY not unlocking......is this a known problem? I
