Did you uninstall the 9600XT, completely remove the ATI drivers, reboot into Safe Mode and run a Driver removal utility such as Driver Cleaner 3.3 before installing the nVidia drivers?

Which drivers are you using?

I have a 2700+ and an 6800, i'll run 3dmark05 in a bit and we can compare scores since our systems are similar.

What drivers are you using? The one's that came with the card, or the latest drivers from the NVidia website (or even newer beta drivers?).

The system in my sig just scored 3176 on default settings. Your score is way low. I remember having to try out several drivers before settling with version 71.84.

'05 scores are almost completely GPU derived. Underclock your CPU to 2ghz and run the test again, you'll see what I mean. There will be almost no difference in '05, but in real games that 1ghz drop would cause a small hit in gaming performance.

Anisotropic filtering could be on.

Id reinstall chipset drivers, then install nvidias newest drivers again. The ATi/Nv driver switch tends to hose the chipset drivers.
