6800 or 6800GT

Could some one advise which is the best value for performance. Also, which brand is the best to choose?
I can get a 6800 for 175, and the GT for about 260 (both in British pounds)

I am at a similar stage right now, and maybe it would help if you listed your specs and how you game. For example, in terms of how you game, do you use AA and/or AF? What resolution do you use? That information would really help.

yay! I need help on this too. The only reason i would buy the GT if for the extra memory (well, the pipes and clockspeed are nice too...). I know that 256 is better for future games, but i'm sure it wouldnt be needed.

The 6800 IS a lot cheaper and still looks like a fine performer. I guess it's what your budget allows!

EDIT: I guess the GT costs about 75% more for not nearly that much performance. Hmmm...i think i'm going with the base model.

yeah but the GT is a snap to overclock to ultra, I have a BFG and it is overclocked right out of the box, plus it has a lifetime warranty

yes, the GT can oc good, but it's still $125 more. I'm supposed to say under $1000, and with the GT i'm up to $1300. Atleast with the nu i'm down to $1175!

Well that makes sense! But if you want to stay within budget, I'd kick that 3400+ down to a 3200+. You save something like $150 and the 3200+ OCs better!

Yes, i've thought about that. It's only $35 cheaper, but there isnt really much of a performance hit, and when i oc i should be able to hit over 3400+ speeds. I dont know if i will downgrade that, but i will think about it. I know this is on the video forums, but will i really have much of a performance hit with the 3200+?

I am very satisfied with my 6800.

That's good to hear, but do you think the lack of ram will make much of a difference down the road if i run things at 1280x1060 or 1024x768. I'm thinking of games like ES4: Oblivion. I really dont want to spend all that money for the GT, but if this is gunna be on the low-lower end by the end of next year i might spring more money.

you should get the 6800 gt. i personally would get 6800 because that the only card i can afford but if you have the money get 6800gt. Then you can overclock it when you needed too. there wasnt that much talk about overclock the 6800nu.

Is the X800 XT worth the extra money? Or the X800 XT PE? I want a GOOD gaming card, and play BFV, Joint OPS and Raven Shield. Which is the best 'bang for the buck' 😉
