don't forget you can also try unlocking the 6800 for a little extra juice. But the difference is apparent when you enable AA/AF, favoring the 6800 side.

Does unlocking the card void the warranty? and are there guides. but the 6800 runs the higher demanding settings "eye candy", yes?

o yea going PCI-e

6800 dont unlock for pci-e which your motherboard has. the pci-e 6800 si redicously weak.

as for sli, forget it. a 6800gt will be faster tahn slied 6600gt for less cost , lower power consumption, less heat, less noise, less game issues with no sli support, etc. forget about SLI unless you plan to sli the highest end cards like the 7800gt and 7800gtx since the ohers have slied performance that is comparable to a single card setup which is always the better idea.

repeating mwmorph :)

I'd look for a good deal on a 6800gt, then go SLI later if you need to. I think I've seen them for as low as $230.

Otherwise, go with the 6600gt SLI since they'll be a bit cheaper and basically the same speed as the 6800 PCI-E's. If you're on the extra-cheap, go with one 6600gt now, then get another one or just upgrade it later.

"Budget" and "SLI" do not go together. Save your money with a non-SLI motherboard and just get 1 good video card, like a 6800GT, instead of 2 medium ones.
