6800 HL2 Problem

I just moved back to a 6800 from a 9700 pro. Whenever I go under water in HL2, or in the part where they are teletransporting me whatever and all the funky colors are there, the game locks up and starts studdering for a few seconds, then goes back to normal, then it happens again. When im on dry land it never happens. It never happens in CS:S, and it never happens in any of my other games. any ideas? Thanks
