I see newegg is selling these cards for like a hundred bones less. I recall seeing an article that showed very little performance gain between 128 and 256, is this still true?

that must be a regular 6800. It's worth the extra $ to get the GT, its significantly faster.

ASUS mixed something up on their blueprints and gave their NU's the RAM from the GT and the GT's the RAM from the NU, so that you get an overly expensive NU and a cheap but crappy GT...basically, they filled in the middle niche between 300 and 400 dollars, but they filled it with crap.

Keep in mind that that Asus GT not only has less memory, but the memory is also slower, potentially limiting any gains you'll see from the faster core.

So the answer is, "It depends on the price." Satisfied? ;)

The price is $339, so at that it's not a great buy, but not the worst. This card is what you would have if you unlocked a 6800NU to 16/6 and OCd the core 25MHz. It's signicantly faster than a 6800NU, but slower than a GT.
The EVGA 6800LE is a much better buy for this price range, IMO the best buy period.

Well, a 6800GT with 128MB 700MHz DDR vs. a 6800GT with 256MB 1GHz GDDR3. What do you think?

Don't even think about LE, it only has 8 pipe lines.
