Hi, im really in the need of a good comparison (vs) for the 6800 GT and the 6800 Ultra..really need to see if the 6800 Ultra is worth the extra 100 bucks or not.

Would be great if someone could link me to one ;0 with benchie's ect.

It all depends on how much that extra $100 matters to you.

Like the previous poster mentioned, a GT can be overclocked to equal the Ultra. However, this means overclocking is necessary, and there is never a 100% guarantee that overclocking will work well. If you buy the Ultra, on the other hand, no overclocking is necessary to run the card at these speeds.

It depends on whether you have extra money to burn. Personally, I'd buy the GT model. But everyone has their own priorities.

A GT will never be same as a ultra as of missing molex, it has 1 only and read modded bios thread you see the Gt didnt like 1.4v+ ( from the bios modder mouth not mines)

a ultra is not worth 100 more than the GT in my opinion ive owned both and im back on a GT- personally i got just as high clocks on my GT as my ultra overclocking like around 440/1.16

You wont reach same as ultras, there isnt enough power, i run 465/1225 and thats no artifacts. with standard cooling, thats why its 2 slots.

The cards are 1 year old now wait on new cards may-june, then get new one or these for less.

Sony Vaio RS420 (with upgrades):
2.8 GHZ P4 with Hyper Threading (800mhz fsb)
512mb pc 2700 RAM
Leadtek 6600GT AGP (OC 543/1ghz)(official 71.84 drivers)
300 watt PSU
120gb HDD
DVD +- RW/ CD-RW

3dmark03= 8150
3dmark05= 3440

Hmm I'm wondering why you aren't getting like 6000 in 3DMark05 running a core of 543?

That's because it is a 6600GT, not a 6800GT. Anyway, when I bought my ultra is was a rebate deal that made it only about $30 more than a GT. At that point, I felt ok spending the extra dough.

I hate when people say "Oh well my GT can oc to Ultra spec"

GTs usualy do ultra and thats it.

Ultra can reach Ultra Extreme speeds easy.

Some can get up to 500 core.

But to answer your question, Yes, for 30 dollars I would go for it.

For 30 bucks I wouldn't hesitate to get the Ultra as long as I had a good PSU

ultras cannot easily reach ultra extreme which is 475 easy at all, ive owned 3 and only 1 could reach ultra extreme, one was a bad ocer, and one was a medium oc'r. but every GT ive owned has reached ultra speeds so your luck is better at grabbing a GT that overclocks good than a ultra and save the hundred bucks

Just get a GT. A 5 percent improvement or so would not be worth $100 to me.
