6800 GT/Ultra?

Looking into getting one or the other. Is there really that big of a noticeable different in the GT and the ultra version? Like I usually play my games in 1024 x 768, but I might start to play in 1280 x 1024. Also what res do you play your games at? Will the GT version handle the AA and all that good stuff pretty good? Thanks

gt can oc to ultra speeds most of the time.with a ocedgt, you should be ablt to play most games at 1600x1200 no aa/af..
at 1240x1024, it shopuld handle 4xaa 8xaf

I currently have an evga 5900se flashed to 5900 speeds. I'm wanting to get the new brothers in arms game when it comes out. Will my current card be able to handle the game or do I need to upgrade? Also what resolution do you guys usually play your games?

yes it will run. but not sure about how well it will run. the fx series is particularly bad at handling dx9.0 games.

yes , you should buy a 6800 gt with a very nice oc you can get up to 430 on gpu core and 1170 memory with heathink.

i get 3dmark03 14080
and 3dmark05 6050

Many GT's do indeed do Ultra or greater clocks,

The Ultra definitely has a better cooling solution. The BFG card is good because it is out of the box 425 on the core. So you are guaranteed that for life. In addition most of them can hold 440-455 on the core with air.

The Ultra does fantastic in demanding games at 1280x1024 4xAA/8xAF, and well at 1600x1200 with the same candy.

If you do get a GT I'd say get an aftermarket cooler as well, like the Zalman VF 700.

Get the GT. Performance is VERY similar and the 100 dollar price difference is not worth it. GT's can ussually be Oced to Ultra + speeds no problem too.

Ya GT can run as Ultra, but Ultra can run as Extreme and beyond, 400 or 425 / 1100 for most Ultras aint the limit of good Ultras, ega's extreme is only 450/1200, easy to beat that here. 😉 no mods to bios either

Yeah, I say get the GT. The performance difference between the GT and the Ultra in my opinion is not worth the $100+. Besides, as others have said, you could OC the GT to Ultra speeds, and even beyond.
