6800 GT Temps>?

my 6800 gt idles at 60 degrees, that sounds too hot to me? playing sorce for about 20-30 mins get it to 75. WTF? is this normal? the card has not been oc'ed.

My XFX 6600GT (AGP) idles at 58-60, and I just got done playing HL2 and RivaTuner showed it peaked at 83 at times (mostly 80-82), generally running around 75-80 though...

Granted it's not a 6800, but I've heard of other people's 6800's running hot too. Seems to be shoddy heatsink attachment. I'm going to try reattaching mine w/ real thermal compound when I get a chance. Others have said I should return it, but it's too much of a pain and I don't want to be without a card for weeks on end.

My $0.02.

I installed an evga copper heat sink with artic silver ceramique on my evga 6800 gt and it dropped my max temp from 85 to 80, which was fine for minor overclocking but not for going well over 400 core. I then bought an nv silencer 5 and it dropped my peak temp to 72 while overclocked at 415/1100 while being quieter to boot. I get my temps running rhtdribl for long periods of time so I don't know how the max temp running that program compares to the max temps of other games but it should be pretty close as rhtdribl is demanding.

My 6800 Ultra idles around 60C and usually up around 85C during games.

I Have had ZERO problems, if it works... why bother worrying about your temps.

It sounds a little high but you shouldn't worry about it with these cards really. When I had the stock cooler on my PNY 6800 GT it would idle around 55-56C and get to about 75C if I played Far Cry or something else pretty DX9 intenstive. With my NV Silencer 5 my card idles 49-51C and maxes out in the low 60's.

Can the NV Silencer 5 be used on a 6600 GT? If not, what is the best choice for one?

My 6600 GT idles at 52, load at 65 or so...is that normal, even for a 6600GT?

Bump...

...also looking for a 6600GT aftermarket cooler... 60 idle / 83 peak, no OC. No artifacts or problems, just a wee bit too hot for me to want to try OCing.
