Hi guys, i am sorta new in the forum, can you guys help me ?
Looking to update my video card from 9800 pro, which one is better? 6800 GT OC from BFG or ATI x800 pro? I have AGP slot, not PCI-E.
Currently just thinking of snatching BFG 6800 GT OC from BB for 349.99
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp...ctCategoryId=cat01151&id=1083712392168
or ATI x800 pro from BB for 329.99
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp...ctCategoryId=cat01151&id=1082519264724

Ati has 12 pipeline while NV has 16 pipe, does pipe really make a difference?
I am currently play alot MMO, but looking forward to play FEAR, DoD, and BF2.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

My specs:
A64 3200+ 2.2ghz 512L2
1 gig DDR-3200
120 gb SATA
AGP mobo

I'd say the 6800 GT OC, it's better for future-proofing at this point because of its speed and shader features at virtually the same price. In case you wondered, the CPU will not bottleneck your 6800GT for all practical purposes/current games.

Oh, and welcome to AT of course.

Oh ya, BFG is a pretty good ? How does it compare to XFX?
480W psu should be enough for 6800 gt?

Check out these two links.....

Nvidia.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi...xPrice=&SubCategory=48&Submit=Property

ATi.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi...xPrice=&SubCategory=48&Submit=Property

Quite a price difference also. I have a X800 Pro...and it runs anything perfectly fine. Ive also played the FEAR demo quite a bit..and no problems there either.

Look around on FS/T or fleabay, I picked up an x800xt pe for $265. The 6800gt was going for about the same, the bfg o/c version a little higher.

So once the card arrive, i just uninstall ati driver from add/remove program, yank the old card and put in nv ones? or i should get those driver cleaner etc?

thanks again for the advice.

Yes.

I've had both BFG & Leadtek 6800GTs, & there's no question which one was better.

BFG = loud crappy cooling, looks ugly

Leadtek = not silent, but normal noise levels, sexy massive copper heatsink

No comparison, sorry.

Honestly though, that X800XL i linked to is a better deal.
