6800 GT not working =\

My friend called me and he said that he got a new computer with 6800GT AGP and when hes plugging it in and he turns the computer on it just dont see the new card. he said that he is using 400W power supply. can this be the problem?

Is he powering the 6800 with the additional power connector? Does he see anything at POST?

ya, check the power connector.

yes he is powering it with another power cable... and he doesnt see anything in the post cuz the screen doesnt turn on...

Make sure it is looking for the card and not the intergrated video!

In the BIOS, change the InitDisplayFirst to PCIe, and/or disable the intergrated video.

Edit: I would make sure that you get video out of the 6800 before you disable onboard video.

Edit2: What model motherboard and PSU is it?

Does the power cable have anything else connected to it besides the video card?

Does he have AGP Fastwrite disabled?

On my motherboard(MSI RS480M2-IL), the intergrated video is considered AGP and the video card PCIe in the BIOS when concerning the InitDisplayFirst variable. That's why I asked him about his motherboard model. 😛

Edit: Sorry =(. That motherboard has AGP as it's video card slot, not PCIe. Last time I go around assuming everyone has the latest and greatest.

Cohen: Make sure InitDisplayFirst is AGP and not anything else.
