Alright I have a 6800GT and it's crashing the computer when I run really intensive games (like fear) for any amount of time, I get a few artifacts and then the screen just goes blank (monitor turns off).

I'm not sure if it's the power of it it's overheating.

I have 6x 160GB seagate hard drives, 1 DVD ROM, P4 2.8C@3.4Ghz

All on a 420W power supply.

I'm guessing the culprit is heat... the reading I'm getting in windows is like 68C

The GPU temperature goes up and down while you play a game. You need to know the maximum.
Follow the instructions in this thread to set up RivaTuner to show your temperature on your taskbar.
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...hreadid=1452022&enterthread=y&arctab=y

Then, set it up to log the temperatures to a file so that if your PC crashes, you can still access the file later and see what the temperatures were like.

Edit:
It is always a good idea to establish stability in this order:
1- System RAM (memtest)
2- CPU (Prime95)
3- Graphics card (rthdribl_1_2)

If your CPU is unstable, there is no point trying to stabilize your GPU!

The first thing to try if you still have the factory HS/fan is to remove the thin metal shroud that covers the body of the heatsink & clean it with some compressed air ... the original 6800GT's clog up with dust after awhile & will overheat quickly once that happens.

If that turns out not to be the problem, then you should proceed to try some of the benchmarks suggested by Navid.
