how hard would it be to unlock the pipes on the 6800 vanilla and make it run and gt or ultra speeds?

0% chance of making GT speeds, -537286293% chance of making ultra speeds.

6800 vanillas have default mem clock of 600mhz. You'll get 800mhz maybe, vs. 1GHZ for GT

Honestly, look for an X800XL for $20 more, it will blast that 6800 out of the water.

The extra pipes DONT EXIST on the PCI-e version.

0% chance of unlocking.

A 6800 will never be a GT, not even with 16 pipes.

Correct, he hadn't established whether or not he was talking about AGP or PCI-E at the time of my post.

True for X800XL vs 6800GT, but teh X800XL is a much stronger card in all respects compared to the vanilla 6800

If i were you and your mobo was single PCIE i would get the x800 xl for like 260-280 But if your willing to spend 300 you can get a 6800gt just go to zipzoomfly.com and search for 6800gt pci
