6790 WAY too hot for no reason

Hey guys, I own an HIS 6790 that is reaching nearly 100 degrees under full load. I have owned it for around 6 months now. For the passed 3-4 months it was making a buzzing sound, I figure it was something with the fan, but it wasn't too loud so I didn't care. Now the buzzing sound is gone and my temps have gone way up. The fan on the card still works though.

I have used CCC to lower all the specs of the card and raise the fan to 100%, but this does not help.

Any ideas besides contacting HIS?

Take the card out and make sure it's free of dust. Make sure all screws are tight, the buzzing could've been a vibration from a loose heatsink. If you feel comfortable doing so, replace the thermal paste too.

Without looking at it, listening to it, and experiencing it myself I couldn't tell you what it could be. Sorry

^^this. Remove the shroud (very easy) and have some TIM handy. Sounds like the shroud is loose or the TIM wasn't applied properly.

If you're uncomfortable with this i'd just RMA it with HIS
