6770 Crossfired with 5770?

Hi all

Just wondering if I could crossfire a 6770 with my XFX HD 5770? I understand that the 6770 is basically a more efficient 5770 and uses the same technology, correct?

Thanks all!

5770 should cost the same or less still, so there should be no need to test this theory. Just remember they have different bios, so there could be problems.

Yes, you can CF them.

Yes. Heres the next question though: Will the gains of the 6xxx series apply to this 6xxx 5xxx CF? I think it won't.

What are you talking about? They're the same hardware, the 6770 has a different bios to enable newer features. That's why the HD 6770 has to be first with the HD 5770 just adding horse power.

It was claimed that the 6770 added a few other things, improved 6xxx scaling one of them.

Hi quick question. Thought I'd tag onto this thread instead of starting a new one bc im using i plan on using this same setup. I have an HD 5770 and found an HD 6770 for cheap.

I see that the HD 6770 has to be Card 1. Is this selectable or is it strictly based on the physical numbering on the MoBo?

I only have a limited amount of room and my dual slot 5770 wont fit if i move it down to the other slot.

Thanks!

hello i have a 790 chipset, is this compatible if i put my 6770 and my 5770 in crossfire mode. can anyone confirm this?

yes but in special cases like this your 6770 needs to be the lead card so 6770 first, 5770 2nd.
