Would a Celeron 400 PPGA 66 bus speed work on a mobo that specifies 133fsb in the cpu specs?

Made the mistake of making sure a cpu I purchased was compatible and noticed the fsb speed is different, and from the way it looks the mobo is not adjustable (With jumpers anyway).

Also, if the cpu is 66fsb and it is put in a 133fsb cpu socket, will that screw up the cpu if it is taken out asap?

Thanks in advance!

What is the motherboard? Make & model?

The motherboard should be compatible with 66 MHz FSB, like you said no jumpers, so it's probably done in the CMOS.

If the motherboard is already set for 133 MHz FSB, then you'll have to look at the manual to see if there is a way to get into the CMOS to make the settings if it doesn't boot up with autodetect. Ex. one of my older motherboards, I had to hold down the 'Home' key and that get me into the CMOS.

The Motherboard is a Biostar M6VLQ.

I do not have another cpu at the moment to test the mobo (WHich worked when I pulled a 1ghz celeron out of it) but I did go ahead and put this one in and booted up. Nothing :( No beeps, no sounds other then the fans and hdd's working. I reset the cmos (Via jumper on the mobo) but still no go. I think maybe this mobo is exclusive to 133fsb. Not sure. Now what I want to know is, did I just fry my mobo or cpu when I put it in and put power to it? It never made it to POST, no bios beeps....

I have read the downloadable manual on it and didn't see anything that could help me, but I did read it quick and jumping sections, so let me go re-read it.

Supports the CeleronTM processor (FC-PGA & FC-PGA2) and the
Pentium® !!! Micro-Processor (FC-PGA & FC-PGA2) and VIA C3
Samuel 2 for high-end workstations and servers.
- CPU Socket 370.

Runing at 66/100/133 MHz Front Side Bus frequency.
- Supports up to 1.2 GHz CPU core speeds.
- The 33 MHz 32 bit PCI 2.2 compliant.
These quotes from the manual says it all. You have a ppga celeron so it won't work. You need to find at least a celeron 533a or above, or any socket 370 P3
