At equal price points, I'd say the 6600GT because of its increased feature set, and the option of SLI later. If the 9800 Pro was cheaper than the 6600GT, I'd probably go with the 9800 Pro.

But, just to clarify here, are you talking about the PCIe 6600GT or the AGP 6600GT?

The 6600GT is better than the 9800Pro but the 6600GT(AGP) is more expensive and not worth the extra money.

if it's better than the 9800, dosnt that mean it should cost more?

yes, but its not worth the extra money over the 9800pro. I would rather get a 6800NU and softmod it.

XFX 6600GT - $240
MSI 9800Pro - $185

It should be noted that once more AGP 6600GT models hit the shelves, the prices will drop down to MSRP levels.

6600GT>9800P. It's a no-brainer at the same price. The current price disparity means you should research how each does in the games you play to see if the GT is worth a premium.

But when the price of 6600gt AGP drops so will the ATI 9800 pro.. so it really depends on how much you want to pay for a videocard, also on what games you would most likely be play.

Also the pic-e version is alot cheaper but of course you have to get a new motherboard

ATI will likely phase out the 9800 Pros very quickly, in favor of their new X800 lineup. In a few short months it will probably be impossible to find a 9800 Pro at retail.

True, but I think Bateluer is right about 9800Pro's disappearing from retail within the next few months.
