Having trouble deciding.
which is a better choice?
I read a review in THG but I couldnt answer my dilema.
Any ideas?
Should I wait a bit longer ? (not much since hl2 is around the corner...)

HL2 will allegedly be going gold next week around this time. The 6600GT AGP allegedly won't be out till Nov at the earliest. So, unless you have a PCI-Ex board already, that's not a viable option for at least a couple months.

so what ur saying is that at 200$ u cant beat it right?
what about the x600? if it will be in the same price range, would it be worth waiting ?

no, the x600 is nothing but a 9600 on a PCI-express bus.

Wait on the 6600gt, end of Oct for AGP flavors.

i wonder how would 6600GT 128-bit memory bandwidth go against 9800 PRO 256-bit

my friend gf3 ti 128mb seem to out dual my ti4200 64mb in doom 3

6600gt look good so far in term of benchmark it releases, but the agp veersion wont be out for a while, i guess everyone should wait

If you're going PCI-Express, go Nvidia. That way you'll always have the option of SLI.

x700 GT ;)

lol, unfortunately for ATI, $250 dollars is more than $200 last time I checked ;) I wonder what card I would get...

from the looks of those benchmarks, my 9700pro is about on par with the x700pro (at least in doom 3) And i am sure they are using a killer system.

i believe you have to wait . . . the 6600 won't be out in AGP until ~ November.

Your ti4400 will "run" the game but will lack the 'eye candy' the DX9 cards can give . . . probably not as "bad" as Doom III, however . . .

At ~$180, the 9800p is the current "best" card. . . .

The 6800Standard is gonna cost ~$250 . . . now

if it were me - now - i'd wait a bit and see exactly how my ti4400 handles HL2 . . . then make the decision.

edit: The x600 is NOT worth waiting for . . . the 9800p will beat it easily; the x700 is reportedly too expensive compared to the 6600GT. . . waiting won't "hurt" if you are fixed in the $200 range.
