6600gt vs. 6800gt

I knw the 6800gt is a better chipset and more ram at 256. I currently have an Evga 6600gt would I see a noticible difference in the 6800gt if I decide to but one and can you recomend a manufacturer?

Click the Video tab and read some benchmarks.

If you want to run at 1600x1200 you need a 6800GT, for 1024x768 a 6600GT is fine.

1280x1024 performance varies more by game, but a 6600GT will probably be fine for at least this year.

Are there any specific games that aren't running well enough for you?

If you read the articles, the 6800GT is noticeably faster in some games at 1280x1024, and in others is faster but in a pointless way. (140 FPS vs. 100 FPS, who cares? Both are way above the refresh rate of your LCD)

If your only playing at 1280x1024 then I would keep you 400 bucks. In some games you would see a noticeable improvement and in some you wouldn't see much improvement. All in all it's not worth 400 bucks.

Well. 6600GT = 1/2 price of 6800 GT and also 1/2 Performance.
Basically.

If you can get either to unbalance, a better ratio, a preference, or another reason go for it.
