6600GT versus 9800 non pro, worth it or wait for 6800 or >

Itching for a new card right now but the 6800 GT is kind of high. Would a 6600 GT be a good upgrade from a 9800 256bit-non pro?

The reason I am hesitant is that it seems to me that the memory bandwith of the 6600 Gt is less than my card.. hurting it at high resolutions.

Unless the 6600gt is much more effecient. Thoughts?

What is your budget? The 6600GT will be faster in most games and benchmarks, but I'd hold out for a 256MB 6800 GT or higher.

for AGP only - all are found on www.newegg.com and or in-stock

$204 - XFX 6600GT
$244 - eVGA 6800nu
$339 - Asus 6800GT 128MB
$368 - Apollo 6800GT 256MB
$425 - eVGA 6800Ultra
$449 - Sapphire X800XT

Thanks guys, I have to wait now anwways 🙁

My wife was so jealous of my new 2405 I had to get her a new lcd.(she had a 15 inch NEC Lcd)

EDIT: well didnt' have to , but 358 for a Dell 19 inch for her or some 300 odd dollars for a new card... wife wins.. for now 🙂

Depends on what games you want to play. I went from a 256-bit Radeon 9800 non pro to a 6600GT, and couldn't have been happier. The biggest difference was in Hitman Contracts where I could turn on all the post processing effects, whereas they would stutter gameplay on all Radeon 9800s & GeForce FXs. Plus I got much better compatibility to turn on more hardware accelleration & post processing effects with older games like FF7 & the original Hitman.

I only play a couple games, so I can't give a wide spectrum of results, but the difference was so nice in the Hitman Contracts game that it was worth it for me.
