6600GT to a 7800GT...

I'm going from an X800XL to a 7800GT and others who made the same jump are quite impressed.

That being said, 6600GT to a 7800GT will probably be like day and night.

Just installed my 7800GT

And so far all i did was run 3dmark05 and it more than doubled from my 6800NU.

Going from a 3k->7.4k

i was just like you i had a 6600gt now i have a 7800gt and i am glad that i got it. there is a huge difference.

the difference is HUGE. I went from a 6600GT to an X800XL (big difference!). X800XL to X850XT PE (not that much of a difference; more steady framerate though) and X850XT PE to 7800GT (pretty impressive difference all things considered, although minimal in Far Cry and HL2).

My board uses AGP... is it worth it to buy an AGP card or do I get a PCIE ready computer and throw in a 7800gt?

A 7800GT would provide so much of a performance increase over a 6600GT that you may very well be overwhelmed. I just went from a 6600GT to an X800 GTO² (at X850 XT PE speeds) and was blown away.

If you can afford the new mobo +cpu+7800GT, yeah get it.

I couldn't, so I went to the 6800GT from a 9800p and found its a nice jump.

EDIT: the 6800gs AGP is supposed to be coming out soon. Equal to the 6800GT but at a better price

i went from integrated
to 9800 pro
to 6800 gt
to x800 pro
to radeon 7500 =.="
and finally to 7800 gtx
the difference is pretty extreme!
