ok so here is what i was going to do...sell my abit an8 board to a friend for 100 and buy the evga sli board...then i was going to buy a 6600gt off here for about 80 bucks. so total to upgrade would b 80 bucks.

but here is what i am being told to do...sell my abit an8 for 100 and sell my 6600gt for 80-100 then buy a tforce board and a 7600gt...

sooo the 2nd option will cost me more....so i guess it comes down to is a 7600gt better than dual 6600gts?

yes, because at the very least you'll be able to SLI it down the road.

compare 7600GT with 6600GT

the 7600 GT, you'll see, doubles the 6600GT's score. now, the 7600GT is running on a 2.8 ghz athlon while the 6600GT is running on a 2.4 ghz athlon, so subtract a little from the score, but neither is particularly CPU limited. but, SLI doesn't quite double performance, so at the very least i'd expect the 7600GT to run even with the 6600GT SLI setup.

lol why are you bumping?
hands down.. no question 7600gt is better than 2 6600gt's.
your question is answered... and it's not an arguable point.

6600GT (or any other low/mid-range version) SLI is a waste of time and money. Get the faster single card.

I agree with BFG10K.
SLI especially on low end is useless.. A single card solution is always more efficient, less power requirements and easier to use..

I'd prefer a 7600GT anyday instead of a 6600GT SLI ..
