6600gt renders 3dmark05 incorrectly?

I don't have any pictures...mainly because they are like...3mb....anyways, I noticed on the actual "games" that my 6600gt renders things, mostly shadows, incorrectly. I noticed this when comparing the IQ to a lower end ATI workstation card. I was able to tell right away. What happens is that the shadows on 3dmark05 don't look solid...it looks like a really really wobbly line (the edge of the shadow) and SOMETIMES fixes it real quick to look normal, most of the time it doesnt though. It has come to a point where i can't tell if it is artifacting or not, but i no it isnt because it still does it in stock clock mode.

I didn't know if this was a general problem, a driver problem, or some settings that cause it, but i dont like it. Games are fine. I hope it isn't my PSU crapping out on me and causing these abnormalities in graphics...but it doesnt do it in games, so why would it be?

I noticed you're OC'd, do you have problems when running stock? I had no issues with that same card at stock with that driver. Assuming your sig info is current.

it does it on stock and OC. and it does it on all drivers i've tried (many many)
lemme see if i can get a pic up and show you

i hope that they aren't artifacts, as they really don't seem like it. I mean, if it does the same with stock and OC it shouldnt be artifacts...

K, i got 3 pics up...oh, and they are around 300kb....

http://img222.exs.cx/img222/2281/050uw.jpg

That is the 2nd test (forst) and if you notice, the tree has what looks like artifacts on it...in motion, it looks as if little purple (squarish) shadows pop around on the tree as if they were artifacts...

That is from the canyon test, and as you can see, i have circled any abnormalities. The water looks odd, but i'm not sure if that is wrong or not.

That is also from the canyone test, and as you can see, the shadows look kinda bad.

Other then that, every game/benchmark (even3dmark03) run and look great, no artifacts at all
as i also said before...i get this in stock and OC mode, with all drivers i have tried

Correct me if I'm wrong... but that just looks like aliasing to me. It's very prominent in my cards as well. I've tried both a 6200 and a X800XL. I wouldn't worry about it.

and why would it be aliasing? Should i have those odd shadows, shadows that are just a bunch of lines, or shadows where there shouldnt be shadows? it only does it in 3dmark05 for me...is it common to look like that? it didnt look like that on an ATI workstation card

have you

1.updated drivers for eveything
2.try a diffrent card
3.unistall/reinstall games
4.update game files/patches

3DMark does not turn on AA in the free version and that looks like what is going on. All those screenies looked normal to me. the "line shadows" were of railings on the boat. The canyon stuff was probably just jaggies (aliasing) and the water looked fine. I didn't see anything wrong with the tree...

Have you run any real games to see if this is the card? If it does the ame in REAL games with AA turned on (2x should be fine) and the drivers have een updated, then contact the manufacturer. Explain what is happening and they may be able to hook you up with an RMA.

I don't want to RMA...all games run perfectly normal, i've said that...and i don't have an extra card to use, as i only had a 9200 (sm1.4 doesnt work on 05).

i guess it all looks normal, but i just noticed that the ATI workstation card (i saw on a labtop) made 3dmark05 look really nice....though, those cards are very accurate...

because 3dm'05 is made to be very taxing on your graphics card.

Extreme overclocks on 6800 Ultra SLI barely breaks 10000 in '05.
