6600GT question

Ok so I have heard about people being able to open up the pipes on a 6800 and make it a 6800 Ultra. Is there anything similar that you can do to the 6600GT and make into something like a 6800GT. Thanks

So true but a pity :roll: It's a different chip with no pipes deactivated or something like that...

Unlockable chips are really higher end chips with parts disabled, like a 6200 that's actually a 6600 with half the pipes disabled. Only a few types of cards are like this.

The 6600gt is already pretty much maxed out as far as it's capabilities go. Like a turbocharged 4cylinder engine, there's just not much you can do to make it faster (some room for OCing, but not much).

Since they can be had for as little as $149 shipped AR I'd say it is plenty bang for buck.
