6600gt performance issues

Hi, I don't know if it's just me, and maybe I expect too much of this card, but here it goes: As you've probably figured I have a 6600GT (Gigabyte), I think the crad is physically not damaged, since I got about 8600 on 3dmark03, which I understand is around normal for my system.
On NFS2, I play on sort of medium detail level, that is 1024x768 resulotion, with the lowest level of AA, and also a couple of other things not enabled (like vsync or somthing like that).
On these settings, I get a fairly crappy result, the world (i.e not the car and road), doesn't move smoothly, it sort of jumps, which is extremly annoying, and on my old radeon 9100, I even got better result (on a lower res).
The second game I have a problem with (actually I only tried these two..) is MVP baseball 2005, the problem is similar to the one from NFS2,
in a way, that suppose I throw the ball from third to first, the ball doesn't moth anywhere near smooth.
Again I don't play on highest settings or too high res. On my old card I could have gotten those results...

As I said, I don't think the card is damaged, since I was able to get around 8600 in 3dmark03 (more than once)...

Am I expecting too much from the card, or is there a problem?
I use driver version 66.93
6600GT @555/1114
A64 3000+ @2200
gigabyte nForce4 4x
512mb ram
WD 160gb sata

thanks in advance!

ok, first of all, I'm trying to understand if there's a problem, or not... i.e. is this the expected performance of a 6600GT, or there is some issue...
I don't just want to go a head and change drivers, since I'm not sure the drivers are the problem (if there is one...).
Like I said, on benchmark it performs well, so am I supposed to play these games on low detail level?

Um, you do know what drivers are for right? They are designed to fix performance issues like you've stated, try them out 🙂

Dont sweat driver cleaner. Only for those benchmark freaks.

Go to your control panel and uninstall the Forceware drivers, go to your system, hardware, device manager and uninstall the VGA drivers. Then install the new drivers.

I have an XFX 6600GT and play NSFU2 with fairly high details without any performance issue. I have used 66.93 and now using 71.84 with better results in 3DMark05.

If you install and run 3dmark05 I may be able to make a comparison with mine. Expect scores in the mid to high 3K.

What youre describing is a classic fast writes bug symptom.

I don't recall seeing any 'fast write' options in the BIOS, are you sure you're talking about the PCI-E card? and if so, could there be a different name for that?
