i might considering buying a 6600gt soon. i'm just curious if my cpu (2.8e ghz) will be any type of a bottleneck for the graphics card. thanks.

Depends on the game. Doom3 streses the CPU a lot, other games less so. Click the CPU/Chipsets tab for the Doom3 article (which uses a 6800Ultra, but the results show the max FPS varying by CPU).

Just Prescotts usually don't run well at 2.8 with their long pipelines. They overclock very well and that is were their performance show.

C'mon Markfw900 is a P4 2.8 that *bad* for gaming??? You can be chasing your tail forever. Mine runs D3 pretty well at about 48fps. (Granted I had to do a little bt of tuning) Y:D

That is what I have and at the time it seemed like a good choice.

I'm not saying its bad. But where games are any of a priority (video card was the hint) the Athlon64 is cheaper, runs faster, and COOLER than a 2.8e OC'ed or not. I don't think anybody who reads benchmarks and articles today can argue that....
