The X800GT is cheaper but the 6600GT has SM3.0 and some other features. Also, should I get the 256mb version of the X800GT? Also, the X800GT is cheaper.

X800GT...even with SM 3.0 a 6600gt won't even be close to handle it and there's not much use for it currently...X800GT is a very good overclocking and it's cheaper. At stock, it's still a little bit better than the 6600gt. Most people would say get the 6600gt since themselves have it and it's been out for a while, but i myself recommend getting the X800GT. And X800GT is cheaper too.

It also depends on which games you play more...if you play a lot of HL2, get X800GT, if doom3 get the 6600GT

X800GT are much better than 6600GT. X800GT really excel in games like HL 2 , farcry , UT2004.

As Atom T said...they are $229 if you live in Canada. Not sure if the 5% off code will work nor what the "exchange rate" does to the deal, but it's available. It'd be pretty weird for a company based in Canada NOT to sell to Canadians!!

I have a coupon code for 5%, and the 10% worked for me as well (gives only 5% now). And to top it off the x800xt pe I ordered is actually in the mail (took a while).
edit: this is regarding the x800 pro refurb. on the Ati canada site.

The ATI site clearance is refurbished X800 Pro which have 12 pipes whlle the Canada computer pricing is for X800GT which have only 8 pipes.

Wheeeewwww!!! I knew pricing had to be "translated", but everything else has to as well:)

When I go to ATI's website under "choose your location" and I "check" the Canada box...the X800 Pro's (in AGP and PCI-E) show up priced at $229.00 (in Canadian currency). When I checkout...I get a price of $217.xx (after adding the 5% off code and prior to adding any zip code or whatever you call it in Canada).

I don't take the screen any further.

Best of luck with the X800GT or whatever else you end up with.

Regards,

Bud

If you want to couple de card to make SLI you should go 6600GT. X800GT can only be crossfired with X800XL Marter card, which is a waste of pipes.

If you don't care abouut coupled video cards X800GT is better.
